Aaliyah Dana Haughton burst into the limelight in 1994 when she dropped her debut album Age Ain't nothing but A number. At the age of 15 years old, the album earned Gold recognition. It was done as a collaboration that was highly influenced by R. Kelly and it put the singer in the limelight. In the year 1996, Jermaine Durpri as well as Timbaland collaborated to produce the second album of hers, One In A Million. It featured the track the song If Your Boyfriend only knew as the lead single one. Following the debut of the album Aaliyah gained international attention for her work as an R&B performer. She appeared alongside the legendary martial artist Jet Li in the 2000 romantic-action movie Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the movie Romeo Must Die, spotted her at an awards ceremony. Queen of the Damned was her debut role in 2002. It's based on the Anne Rice novel. Then she was introduced to the Matrix in the form of Zee on The Matrix Sequels having also performed as a character in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 and The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. She received four Grammy nominations in 2001, 1999, 2002 and 2003. The actress has also been featured in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy. The actress also appeared in a variety of commercials, including Volvo and many other major car brands. She currently lives with her family in Los Angeles along with her wife, son and daughter. She also pursues her acting career.
